Co. at no additional charge to you! You are bidding on: a vintage old baseball uniform patch of Satchel Paige likely used in the Negro Leagues in the 1950's. Patch is approximately 2 5/8  x 2 6/8.  Should be worth hundreds to collectors who desire a vintage Negro League or Paige items. BUT WE WILL START THIS ONE AT JUST $40 to get it started!! Stored unprotected for years in Chicago (found with others of Honus Wagner and Cy Young and all were of similar quality...contact us or check our other auctions if you want those too!), the patch is dirty, stained, slightly frayed and with some color wear.  All were similar in quality to the one pictured.  You will receive a patch of the similar quality as the one pictured, some show small frays and all show some staining and color fading.  You may want to try cleaning them, but I didn't want to risk it.  Would look nice matted and framed AS THEY ARE for display!  These patches were post WW2, 1948-1955 as the uniform worn by Satchel Paige has a "C" which stands for Cleveland Indians (he played there in 1948 and 1949) or possibly the Pittsburgh CRAWFORDS.  Also, it was 1948, after WW2, that sport card collecting was resurrected by Bowman Gum, and color inks and material were again becoming available in the post-war market. I have not been able to identify which company marketed this premium but do believe the patches were made in Chicago for baseball uniforms.  VERY RARE!  (We do have another one as well as one for HONUS WAGNER, both available for $120.00....email us if interested.)  If you want the best deal on a vintage Satchel Paige item only, this is your best choice.Fragile and valuable item requires special handling and ins./cert. that WE WILL PAY FOR!!!
