Banks of Barnsley (probably the retailer of South Yorkshire in England), has wonderful thick red gut binding around the shoulders, complete 'trebbling' strings, a deep groove handle and an obviously original 'fishtail' shape end to the handle.The head is particularly narrow on this model (21.3cms. at the widest point as opposed to (23.2cms.) on the more standard sized 'Defiance' model)The lateral strings are red gut while the verticals are natural in colour.The racket was played with, and as a result has a few knocks, bumps and chips around the edge, but nevertheless displays perfectly, and is perfectly straight.The second racket ('Defiance' c.1925-30) has no makers' or retailers' name but is equally impressive. It has a concave wedge, double-mains stringing, a straight frame and an unusual bevelled head-frame. Again, the stringing is red and natural in colour.It is stamped 13ozs. in weight.Together they make a very impressive display on a study or games room wall.Buyer pays shipping. Place a Bid!
