Authentic PSA/DNA Certified Extremely Rare CY YOUNG hand-signed letter with his photograph on the verso. This authentic original hand-signed letter has been elaborately custom framed in Gold Leaf. This is possibly one of the rarest Cy Young items ever offered for sale! Also included is an Authentic BABE RUTH Upper Deck SP Legendary Bat Card #B-BR. All offers will be considered! SUBMIT BEST OFFER: The first item is a 2001 Upper Deck SP Legendary BABE RUTH Bat Card #B-BR. On the back Upper-Deck writes, “CONGRATULATIONS! You have received a Game-Used Bat trading card from The Upper Deck Company, LLC. On the front of this card is an authentic piece of a game-used bat used by Babe Ruth in an official Major League Baseball game. We hope you enjoy this piece of MLB history as we at The Upper Deck Company, LLC continue to keep you as close as you can get! CY YOUNG (1867 - 1955): Young pitched his last game in 1911 at the age of 44 for the Boston Braves. After 22 seasons of service he retired as the Major League leader in career wins (511), complete games (751) and innings pitched (7,356). In 1937, 26 years after he retired from the game of baseball, Young was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. Major League Baseball further honored the pitcher by creating the Cy Young Award - an honor given annually to the best pitcher in the American and National Leagues. The award was first introduced in 1956 by Commissioner Ford Frick, approximately one year after Young passed away at the age of 88. This auction also includes a 1914 Cy Young Authentic hand-signed letter (Comes with the PSA/DNA LOA). Postmarked 1914, Cy Young has written on the verso of a postcard bearing his photograph, adding his signature at the closing. This letter reads, in part: “Have you met a mule team with three cans or white paint. Lately feeling fine. Will write you a line one of these days. Regards to you all, Cy Young” This rare historical item comes from the collection of a famous artist, and, has been elaborately custom framed in gold leaf (Framed Dimensions: 28” X 24”) and matted with a photo of Young (A scan of the actual photo that is on the verso of the actual postcard), along with a presentation plate inscribed with the following, “In the world of baseball the name of Cy Young is synonymous with pitching excellence. At the time of his retirement in 1911 Young had amassed more wins and pitched more innings than any other pitcher - and both records have stood into the 21st century. In 1956, to honor his outstanding career, major league baseball named an award in his honor that went to baseball's outstanding pitcher during the previous season. The award was later given to the outstanding pitcher in each league. AUTHENTIC CY YOUNG HANDWRITTEN LETTER SIGNED”. The framing is spectacular! Even Better in Person!
