Description
1944 Broadside Honoring Montreal’s Maurice Richard-  Offered is an incredible early item which honors the Montreal Canadian’s Hall of Fame Forward, Maurice “Rocket” Richard and winning the Stanley Cup.  This cardboard poster/ad (probably used in a window) measuring approx. 15x23, in French indicates honoring Richard on April 29, 1944.  The poster looks like a “folk art” type poster.  See images for complete poster wording.  The season marked the emergence of Montreal’s potent Punch Line of Lach, Maurice Richard and Toe Blake and saw the Canadiens go undefeated at the Forum while losing only five of 50 games overall. Montreal scored a record 234 goals while rookie Bill Durnan won the Vezina and the Habs outdistanced second place Detroit by a record 25 points. Come playoff time Montreal took care of Toronto in five games and then swept the Black Hawks in the finals as the Punch Line scored 10 of the 16 finals’ goals including Blake’s Cup-winning overtime marker in a 5-4 win in Chicago in game four. The Canadiens skated off with Lord Stanley’s coveted trophy for the first time since Morenz, Joliat and the boys did so in 1931.  Add $12.00(domestic) or $15.00(foreign) postage insurance and packaging DUE TO SIZE, Maryland residents add 5% sales tax. Lifetime guarantee on authenticity as it is explained in the description.
